The Reimagining of Tuteku
"The Reimagining of Tuteku", opening reception November 1st, 5-9PM at Acción Latina — 2958 24th Street.
The Reimagining of Tuteku is a visual journey into memory, spirit, and survival by Salvadoran American artist Mincho Vega. Inspired by the Indigenous Lenca and Pipil traditions documented by María de Baratta, Vega reimagines “Tuteku”—the Nawat word for “great spirit”—as a living force that connects the seen and unseen. Through painting, sculpture, and altar-making, the exhibition becomes a reclamation of diasporic memory and ancestral presence.
